SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Young Man in Therapy

How can
I help young people?

Being a teenager or young adult today can feel overwhelming.

I support young people who may be struggling with:

  • Exam stress and academic pressure

  • Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed

  • Low confidence or self-doubt

  • Difficulty managing emotions (e.g. anger, frustration, shutting down)

  • Pressure in sport or performance environments

I recognise there’s pressure from studies, expectations around the future, social challenges, and sometimes sport or performance on top of that. Even when things look “fine” from the outside, it can feel like a lot internally.

I offer 1:1 mentoring to help young people better understand what they’re feeling, manage pressure more effectively, and build confidence in themselves. Sessions are calm, practical, and tailored to the individual.

The focus isn’t just on talking - it’s on helping young people develop tools they can actually use in everyday situations, such as:

  • Managing stress and pressure

  • Understanding and naming emotions

  • Building confidence and resilience

  • Responding differently to difficult thoughts and feelings

What if I'm a parent?

For many teenagers, it can be hard to open up - especially to parents, teachers, or coaches.

Sessions provide a space where they can talk openly, without judgement, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for them.

If you’re a parent, you might be noticing that your child is:

  • More stressed or anxious than usual

  • Struggling with confidence

  • Finding it hard to cope with pressure

  • Becoming withdrawn, irritable, or overwhelmed

It can be difficult to know how best to support them.

I offer an initial 20-minute discussion which can involve both parents and/or their child to understand what’s going on and explain how I can help. Sessions are then focused on supporting the young person directly, with appropriate communication along the way whilst respecting confidentiality.

Please note that this service offers wellbeing-focused mentoring and psychoeducation. It is not a substitute for clinical therapy or mental health treatment. If I feel you require such support, I will immediately inform you of this and will do my best to signpost you to appropriate services.

If you are in crisis or under the care of mental health services, please consult your GP or a licensed professional.

All references to psychological models reflect experience gained in my NHS roles. I do not deliver therapy privately or use NHS-owned materials in this work. My services are educational and supportive in nature, offered independently and without affiliation to the NHS.
