Luke Boynes Coping Minds

I am an accredited Clinical Associate in Psychology with the British Psychological Society and am currently a practitioner in a specialist mental health pathway in the NHS. Working in the NHS for over five years, both in acute mental healthcare and supporting individuals with longstanding emotional challenges, has shaped my understanding of human resilience and the importance of compassionate, grounded support.

Alongside my professional experience supporting adults, I have also spent many years working with young people in other settings. I tutor mathematics up to GCSE level and have seen first-hand the pressures that many young people face, including exam stress, academic expectations, confidence issues and uncertainty about the future.

As a teenager, I was part of an elite player development group for rugby and have played at National League level. These experiences give me a strong understanding of the demands that can come with performance environments, including pressure, setbacks, injuries, balancing commitments and maintaining confidence during difficult periods.

I also live with Type 1 Diabetes, a lifelong condition that brings its own physical, emotional and social challenges. Through both personal experience and delivering talks to children, young people and parents about managing diabetes in sport and everyday life, I appreciate the resilience required to live well with a chronic health condition.

On a personal level, I know what it’s like to feel stuck or overwhelmed – and I’ve found immense value in being heard and guided through difficult moments. These experiences have shaped the non-judgemental way that I work and my aim is to provide a space where people feel listened to, understood and supported while developing practical skills that help them move forward with confidence.

How do I work?

This space is designed for open conversation, reflection, learning and steady progress.

My approach is grounded in psychoeducation and skill development, informed by a variety of structured psychological frameworks and drawing on principles and techniques from these models.

I offer a curious, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you can feel understood and supported. Whether your challenges are long-standing or have developed more recently, I realise it can be difficult to recognise and understand what is going on.

Examples of work may consist of; focusing on habits, structure and strengths to track progress achieving goals; working on problem-solving skills to get through difficult logistical, emotional or interpersonal tasks and; psychoeducation sessions to develop mental health literacy and learn specific psychological concepts.

We will focus on you as a person, not a label.
